Types of Log Construction

Dovetail The traditional pioneer log home features large logs, sawn or hand hewn on two sides (inside and outside). Huge faces from ten to thirty inches and white mortar chinking enhance the beauty of the wood. The tight fitting handcrafted dovetailed corners are the signature of this style of home.

Scandinavian Scribe The logs are left in their natural round shape. Scribing is a craft, by which the contour of one log is transferred to the underside of the next log. A longtitudinal groove is cut out within these lines allowing the upper log to fit exactly to the lower one. Saddle notch corners complete the rustic look.

Pièce on Pièce Pièce on Pièce log building provides freedom of size and shape of your log home. This combines the beauty of a simple timber frame with log panels between the uprights. Wood, stone or other materials may also replace log panels. The addition of a timber roof system tops off these majestic homes.
